CMOS Based TV Tuners

Sunday, Oct 18, 2009. 2:30-4:30pm

Sheng Ye, PhD.
Manager of RF/Mixed-Signal IC Design, Co-Founder of MaxLinear Inc.

La Jolla Library 7555 Draper Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037-4802. (Street parking only, please come early.)

Television receivers have been around for decades. However, a power-efficient, high-performance and cost-effective CMOS implementation has until recently defied commercialization. The design of integrated TV receivers presents a number of difficult challenges both in system architecture and circuit design, and requires close coordination between the two. This seminar will review technical design considerations as well as commercial developments which make this area one of the most promising semiconductor markets in recent years. This seminar is open to all interested parties, especially professionals in the semiconductor and IC industry. Note: for more information about current job openings, please visit the company's website.

Dr. Sheng Ye has over 10 years of experience in research and product development in the fields of RFIC Design and wireless systems. Prior to MaxLinear, he worked at Silicon Wave (now Qualcomm, San Diego), where he was responsible for RFIC design of Bluetooth SoC products. He has been with MaxLinear since fall of 2003 where he is responsible for the RFIC design of the CMOS TV tuner products. Dr. Ye received his BS degree in Physics from Beijing University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
